At 91, Bev Graham (with painting) still has a few tricks up her sleeve. Here, Graham surprises local painter Joe Green with a painting he did approximately 50 years ago of some burlap bags in a barn. Graham said she has always loved the painting which she finds unusual and has always gotten questions on it its unique perspective. Green said at the time he painted it he remembers the bags in the barn and the light coming in and reflecting off the bags and during that period of his professional development, he was working on simplifying his images, hence just a small part of the background was included in the piece. He said Graham’s presentation and sharing her experience of owning the painting was “one of the biggest surprises” of his life. Friends and fellow members of the Grand Blanc Women’s Club, Bert Rhodes and Lois Emberton, at left, helped Graham track Green down for the surprise event shared by Green’s current painting class at the Grand Blanc Senior Center. 1p1.jpg
