Fire department reminds residents of fire safety

GRAND BLANC — During fire safety week, the Grand Blanc Fire Department reminds residents that fire deaths are up 23 percent from last year.

Most fire deaths are caused by smoking and most happen in the dark hours of the night, between midnight and six a.m.

October is Fire Prevention Month. These residential fire fatality statistics highlight how important it is to become educated on fire safety.
