United Way kicks off 2018 campaign

GENESEE COUNTY — Officials with the United Way of Genesee County kicked off the 2018 Burton-area annual campaign at the Fox 66 Fall Festival this past weekend. The campaign will have an emphasis on expanding workplace giving throughout Genesee and Shiawassee Counties and help more than 85,000 people.

United Way officials are hoping to raise and leverage funds to support programs in Genesee and Shiawassee Counties, according to Jamie Gaskin, CEO of the United Way of Genesee County. Last year, the local United Way’s total community impact was $14 million in donations, grants, designated gifts and leveraged funds.

“The cornerstone of any successful campaign is workplace giving,” Gaskin said. “Our role is to demonstrate to donors and their employers that by investing in the United Way, we can leverage their financial support to help more people.”
