Daily Luncheon

Have you ever joined us for our daily luncheon? If you have not tried a luncheon please give it a try and let us know what you think. There is a requested $2.00 donation for Genesee County residents 60 years of age or older-where can you eat for $2.00? If you are under 60 or reside outside of Genesee County there is a $3.50 charge (still very inexpensive) If you are interested please make reservations no later than 1:00pm the business day prior to attending. Menus are available at the Center.

Senior Project Fresh coupons will be available this month

Please call the office to schedule your appointment. Senior Project Fresh offers low-income seniors 60 years of age or older residing in Genesee County the opportunity to purchase $20.00 of Michigan grown produce. Grand Blanc School District residents will also qualify for $100.00 in Grand Blanc Market Fresh coupons provided by The Grand Blanc Community Fund of the Community Foundation of Greater Flint.

Monthly income guideline are:

Household of one: $1872

Household of two: $2538

Michigan State Extension: Dinning with Diabetes

Dining with Diabetes is a fun and interactive course series targeting individuals with prediabetes, type 1 or type 2 diabetes, members of their support system and/ or anyone interested in learning more. Participants learn to make healthy food choices and incorporate balanced menus into the family dining experience. Classes include research-based education, cooking demonstrations and healthy recipe tasting. Dining with Diabetes is a 4-week program that begins on Wednesday, August 1st from 1:00pm-3:30pm. Please call to reserve your spot, space is limited

Visually impaired support group

The Visually Impaired Program provides programs and services especially designed to assist adults 60 and older, who are losing vision, cope with their loss. Our goal is to introduce safe, new ways to manage daily tasks to persons losing vision so that they can remain independent. The center will host the visually impaired support group on the second Thursday of every month from 10:30am-12:30pm.

Silver Sneakers Stability

If you would like to be stronger, improve your balance and decrease your risk of falling Silver Sneakers Stability is for you! Protect one of your most valuable assetsyour independence. A study of older adults participating in exercise classes similar to Silver Sneakers Stability showed 40% were less likely to fall and one-third were less likely to suffer a fall-related injury than non-participants. Join the Silver Sneakers Stability program on Wednesdays beginning July 25th from 10:00am-11:00am. If you have Silver Sneakers as a benefit on your health insurance, there is no charge for the class. If you do not have Silver Sneakers there is a $20.00 fee for the 5-week program. Advance sign-up and payment are required due to limited space in this program.
