Bobcats golf 14th at state finals

ALLENDALE – The Grand Blanc golf team finished 14th out of 18 teams at the Div. 1 state finals on Thursday and Friday. Grand Blanc carded a 684 for a two-day total. The Bobcats scored a 343 the first day and 341 the second.

Grosse Pointe South was first with 598, Rockford second with 617, Birmingham Seaholm third with 619, Northville fourth with 624 and Detroit Catholic Central fifth with 627. Hartland scored a 631, Birmingham Brother Rice 642, Lake Orion 643, Grand Rapids Forest Hills Central 645, Lapeer 649 and Ann Arbor Pioneer 655. Ann Arbor Skyline carded a 656, Plymouth 664, Portage Northern 704, Traverse City West 705, Anchor Bay 738 and Harrison Township L’Anse Creuse 777.

Nick Bruett led Grand Blanc with an 86-80-166. Brendan Silpoch scored an 82-88-170. Jacob Waun fired an 88-83- 171. Evan Finsterwald carded an 87-91- 179 and John George scored a 91-90- 181. – K.R.

GOODRICH: Trent Barth carded a 153 total at the state championship meet at Bedford Valley in Battle Creek on Friday and Saturday, finishing 16th overall as an individual. No other Goodrich golfers qualified for the state final.

Alex Jordan of Mason won the individual championship with 139, Nick Krueger of Spring Lake was the runner up with 141 and Andrew Kolar of Grand Rapids Forest Hills Northern was third with 142.

Flint Powers Catholic won the team state championship with 600, Forest Hills Northern was second with 603 and East Grand Rapids was third overall with 608. The Martians also failed to qualify as a team for the state championship. — J.O.
