Bobcat Bookmobile helps kiddos keep reading skills sharp this summer

GRAND BLANC — The Bobcat Bookmobile will be out on the road Wednesdays in July and August, for seven weeks starting July 11.

Elementary age students can visit the mobile library at one of 14 designated locations at times posted on their schedule.

Elementary school principals and staff will be driving the white Bobcat Bookmobile van and will set up at each location for approximately 15-20 minutes. Children who would like a book can choose from the mobile collection for free and keep the book for summer reading enjoyment. They are invited to get a book each time the van visits—up to seven free books this summer.

The 14 stops are spread throughout the school district in subdivisions and other low-traffic areas to make it safe and easy for students to practice reading and maintain literacy skills over the summer. Staff will also gladly accept gently used children’s book donations to replenish their collection.

Grand Blanc Community Schools is excited to bring this fun and convenient experience to elementary-age children and hope to keep students reading over the summer months. Parents and students are encouraged to take photos of their child with the Bookmobile staff and tag @gbcsbobcats and tell us how your summer is going. Map, directions and schedules can be accessed at grandblancschools.org. GBCS encourages you to read with your child this summer. — P.S.
