Bobcats second at Genesee Tournament

Photo by Brandon Pope GRAND BLANC – The Grand Blanc golf team was second at Monday’s Genesee County Tournament, falling only to Flint Powers. The Bobcats took first for the Div. 1 teams.

Out of 18 teams, Powers fired a 300 to take first overall. Grand Blanc was 21 strokes behind powers with a 321. Lapeer was third with 330. Goodrich was fourth with 334, Fenton fifth with 339, Mt. Morris sixth with 346, Flushing seventh with 349, Lake Fenton eighth with 350, Brandon ninth with 356 and Swartz Creek 10th with 358. Durand scored a 369, Linden 376, Holly 384, Kearsley 394, New Lothrop 398, Montrose 438, Corunna 453, Carman-Ainsworth 474 and LakeVille 584.

Jacob Waun set the pace for Grand Blanc with a 73 to tie for third as an individual. Nick Bruett fired a 75 and placed fifth as an individual. Ranveer Ajimal was 14th overall after shooting an 83. John George carded a 90.

Last Thursday, Grand Blanc defeated Brighton by just three strokes, 165-168. Ajimal first a 38 to lead the way. Waun carded a 41, Bruett 42 and George and Brendan Silpoch both scored 44s.

Grand Blanc faced Howell on Wednesday following press deadlines and hosts Hartland today.

GOODRICH: The Martians shot 178 as a team in a tri-match with Corunna and Webberville at Corunna last Wednesday. Trent Barth led Goodrich with a 40, and Ben Locey carded a 44. Results were not reported for Corunna and Webberville.

On April 30, Goodrich swept a quad match against Lake Fenton, Corunna and host Mt. Morris, shooting a 172 collectively. Barth carded a 37, and Hayden Fernald shot a 42. – J.O.
