Perry Pioneer Day

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Grand Blanc Historic District Commission hosts Perry Pioneer Day, May 12, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the historic Perry House, 5078 Perry Rd. (Additional parking in cemetery across the street). This popular, family-friendly event features vendors, music, free refreshments, a live archaeological dig, civil war re-enactment camp and other historical actors, perennial plant sale, antique tractors and more! — P.S.

Museum Open House

GRAND BLANC — In conjunction with Perry Pioneer Days, the Grand Blanc Heritage Museum, 203 East Grand Blanc Road, will also be open May 12, from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Come and share in the history of how Grand Blanc became the first (and oldest) community in Genesee County. Find out how the Perry family Was among the first of a flood of pioneers in the 1820’s, wrestling the excellent farmland from the wilderness. There will be guided tours through the many exhibits and help researching your ancestry. Come and get acquainted with Grand Blanc’s hidden treasures! — P.S.

Presentation on Aging

GRAND BLANC TWP. — The Grand Blanc Women’s Club will meet May 16, t 12:30 p.m. at the Flint Elks Club, 7177 E. Maple Ave. This month will feature DuAnne Bilbey R.N. and Bert Rhodes R.N. who will demonstrate how to keep “Super Agers” living a long productive life. Luncheon is $12, everyone is invited to attend even if you are not a member. Homeowners Forum

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Genesee County Drain Commissioner Jeff Wright will speak at the Grand Blanc Area Homeowners Forum May 16 at 6:30 p.m. at the David Stamm Community Room at the township police department, 5405 S. Saginaw Rd. This presentation will focus on county/regional water and specific drain issues and includes a question and answers forum. Membership in an HOA is not required. This will be the last meeting until September. — P.S.
