GOODRICH: The Martians were swept by Flint Powers 9-1 and 6-0 on March 28.

“We couldn’t get the bats going, and we made a few mistakes in the field which hurt us at Powers,” said Goodrich coach Bob Foreback. “We couldn’t string any hits together to score runs (in the first game).”

Drake Hukill and Kyle Mouch each recorded two hits in Game One.

“Game two was much of the same, but we have to give some credit to the Powers pitchers for throwing solid games,” added Foreback.

The Martians only recorded two total hits as a team in the second game from Zach Bearden and Colby Phipps.

Back on March 26, Goodrich swept Bentley 5-0 and 3-0 in a doubleheader. The Martians were led by Josh Balenger with three RBI and two hits. Ethan Young earned a win, while striking out six batters in three innings. Cole Koester, Gavin Asbridge and Mouch each added one hit in Game Two.

Broderick went 4-for-4 at the plate on the day. As a team, Grand Blanc recorded 13 hits.

Kendall Klochack started on the mound for the Lady Bobcats and earned the victory, allowing five hits over five innings while striking out eight batters. Klochack showed her chops defensively in the first inning, as she triggered a double-play by gathering a bunt and throwing to Rover at first base, who then threw to catcher Justyce Gilliland behind the plate, who in turn tagged out the runner to complete the double-play.
