Pageant gears up for 2018

GRAND BLANC — The Miss Grand Blanc Scholarship Pageant is now accepting applications for the 2018 and the deadline is only a month away (April 2).

The pageant will be held June 20, At Mason Elementary. Pageant Director Tiffany Dewley host this scholarship-based pageant which provides young women a forum in which to share their talents and express their views on local, regional and global issues. Participants are also judged on Service; or advocating community service and encouraging civic responsibility, Style; which evaluates personal growth, fitness and self-expression, and Success; or us of their talents, time and resources for the betterment of themselves and their community. This pageant does not include talent or swimsuits.

In addition to Miss Grand Blanc, two young ladies will be chosen as court representatives each year. The Queen and court will travel throughout mid-Michigan attending parades and queens’ receptions to promote the Grand Blanc community.

They also participate in other community events throughout the year and can be scheduled by contacting the pageant. The pageant awards a total of $1,000 in scholarships annually to Miss Grand Blanc ($500) and the two court members ($250 each) along with many other prizes. To date we have awarded over $2,000 in scholarships.

Participants receive many benefits, experience and opportunities promoting the community through this event. New to Miss Grand Blanc this year is the Princess program open to young girls ages 4-12 years old who live in Grand Blanc or attend Grand Blanc schools, special needs included.

It is a non-competitive program which focuses on poise and stage presence through mentorship. The girls will participate in the Miss Grand Blanc scholarship pageant and be paired with either a contestant or current court member.

The program will include: Princess tiara, flower, crowning on stage, photo with current Miss Grand Blanc & court along with the new Queen & court, recognition in our pageant program, certificate, participation in pageant production, & a treat bag.

This program is meant to give young girls an opportunity to gain confidence, meet positive role models, and get an opportunity to shine on stage and be crowned a princess. This is a fundraising event for future Miss Grand Blanc scholarships.
