Flint Firebirds to host Whaley Night to collect hygiene items for children

FLINT — The Flint Firebirds are hosting a special night for Whaley Children’s Center (WCC) on March 10, as the Firebirds face off against western conference rival the London Knights at 7 p.m. at the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center.

All attendees will receive a free admission with the donation of five personal hygiene items to the children at WCC, sponsored by Landaal Packaging and Oasis Outsourcing out of Sarasota Florida. There will also be a 50/50 raffle with all proceeds benefitting WCC.

Tickets start at $12 and are available at www.flintfirebirds.com or for free by bringing five personal hygiene items to the game. WCC has a great need for a variety of personal hygiene products including shampoo, conditioner, hairbrushes, feminine products, ethnic hair care, hair detangler, deodorant, towels, wash clothes, hair ties, underwear, socks, Nair, sun screen, bug spray and facial cleansing clothes.

Classic art drawing at the FIA

FLINT — New drawing classes emphasizing classical art instruction are being offered by the Flint Institute of Art School, 1120 East Kearsley Street, beginning March 15 with Internationally trained artist and Flint native Rebecca Catherine Gray. Classes include Classical Drawing, Drawing the Figure, and Drawing Children’s Portraits. Each class meets one afternoon or evening per week for 10 or 11 weeks. Registration ends on March 11. Andy Warhol exhibit

FLINT — Mott Community College (MCC) Fine Arts Gallery in the Visual Arts and Design Center, 1401 E Court Street, will present an exhibition of screen prints and photographs by Andy Warhol, gifted to Mott Community College by the Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and the Warhol Photographic Legacy Program.
