Man arrested on CCW charge

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On March 3 at approximately 8:28 a.m., an officer observed a 24-yearold Swartz Creek male who was reportedly carrying a concealed weapon without a permit. The officer spoke with the suspect who initially denied he had a weapon. The officer was initially denied consent to search but the suspect then admitted to having the gun in his backpack, as well as marijuana. He said he carries it everywhere he goes for personal protection and he knew he needed to get a Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit but had not yet done so. He was arrested and lodged in the Flint City jail. — P.S.

Woman nets OWI on way to pick up kids

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 28 at 3:12 p.m. in the 2200 block of Hill Road, officers responded to a motor vehicle accident where they found a 36-year-old Mt. Morris female to smell strongly of the odor of intoxicants as well as feces and who admitted to having gone to the bathroom in her clothes. She said she had not been drinking, but field sobriety tests were administered and failed, and she scored a .25 on the Preliminary Breath Test. Additional Blood Alcohol Level testing scored two consecutive scores of .26. She was arrested and prior to being lodged in the Genesee County Jail pending charges of OWI (Operating While Intoxicated) she was allowed to use her cell phone to contact someone to pick up her kids from school as she had been on her way to get them. — P.S.

Woman arrested for retail fraud

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 28 at 12:57 a.m., in the 6100 block of S. Saginaw, officers were called for a 28-year-old Flint female who was suspected of shoplifting. Loss prevention officers said they observed her scanning cheap items and bagging more expensive items in the self-scan area. She attempted to not pay for several household goods items, including a rug and pots and pans valued at $88.70. She was arrested and read her rights and interviewed in the office. She admitted what she did was wrong and said she couldn’t go to jail because she had just gotten a job. She was arrested, charged with Retail Fraud and taken to the Flint City Jail. — P.S.
