Grand Blanc passes transportation inspection

GRAND BLANC — The Grand Blanc Community Schools (GBCS) use and maintain a fleet of 81 buses. These buses must pass an inspection on a regular basis by the School Bus Inspection unit of the Michigan State Police (MSP). The School Bus Inspection unit is part of the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division of MSP.

The district transportation department is proud to report all but one bus passed this recent inspection. One received a yellow tag, which indicates a bus is safe for operation, but a repair needs to be made in the next 60 days. The repair was made immediately, and the bus was then passed by MSP. The MSP manual for School Bus Inspections can be found at: http://www.michigan.gov/ documents/msp/School_ Bus_ Inspection_ Manual_ v1.9_ Effective_ September_ 1_ 2017_ 576714_ 7.pdf

GBCS takes the safe transportation of our students very seriously. The department is responsible for the safe transportation of students back and forth to school, as well as to special events such as field trips and sporting events. Details, visit: grandblancschools.org/transportation 07950e4a .

GBCS is hiring bus drivers, and an application can be made Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Monday-Friday at the transportation department located at 2500 E. Maple Ave. Those over the age of 21 with a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and can pass a drug test, background check, and DOT physical are encouraged to apply. — P.S.
