Three wrapped up for retail fraud

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Dec. 4 at approximately 8 p.m. officers were called to the 6300 block of S. Saginaw Road for a report of retail fraud suspects who exited the Heritage Mall from the Dort Hwy. side. The vehicle was observed and stopped near I-475 on Hill Road where officers detained and interviewed a 25-year-old Flint male, a 28-year-old Flint female, and a 19-yearold Flint male. Loss Prevention officers said they observed the suspects go throughout the store and select clothing, toys, hoverboard, and even a drone and place them in the cart. The female was observed to pay for some gift wrapping paper prior to wheeling the merchandise, valued at $1,380 out the door without being paid for. The younger man admitted to what Loss Prevention said but said he “didn’t know what was going on”. He and the other male were lodged in the Flint city jail pending charges of retail fraud. ‘Slumper’ arrested for high BAC

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Dec. 3 at approximately 2:33 a.m., officers responded to a call from the 6100 block of S. Dort Highway to check the welfare of a man reported to be slumped over the steering wheel of a Chevrolet Traverse in a drive-thru. Upon arrive, officers found the 49-year-old Grand Blanc male in the driver’s seat. He admitted to drinking approximately an hour prior. When asked to exit the vehicle, he was checked by emergency medical services on scene and released to police custody. He was unsteady on his feet, displayed a strong odor of alcohol, and had a dazed and confused look on his face. He failed field sobriety tests and refused to take a Preliminary Breath Test. He was administered additional alcohol testing at the police department and scored a .19 blood alcohol level (BAC) and was lodged in the Genesee County jail for Operating While Intoxicated and High BAC. — P.S.

U-Haul seized from ‘gas and dash’

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Dec. 2, at approximately 9:29 p.m., officers were called to the 4500 block of E. Hill Rd. where an employee reported a man came in for gas and left his credit card on deposit prior to pumping fuel. However, the 43-year-old Burton male filled the U-Haul truck he was driving and then left northbound on Genesee Road. He was spotted and a traffic stop was made. He said he was in the process of moving and had found the credit card in his new home. Upon return to the store, the card was found to be invalid for any purchase and the driver was found to have a suspended license. He was arrested for Driving with a License Suspended (DWLS), lodged in the Flint city jail and the truck was impounded. — P.S.
