McFarlen to host craft fair

FLINT — The Genesee District Library and Flint Handmade will host the 4th Annual Book Lovers’ Craft Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at the Grand Blanc-McFarlen Library.

Nearly a dozen local artisans will sell an assortment of modern book-themed, handmade goods, such as notebooks made from vintage board games, magnets and coasters featuring literary quotes, comic book collage canvases, soaps and candles. Prices range from $1 to $20.

“New to the fair this year is Aly from Happy Girl Granola. She sells the most delicious handmade granola mixes as well as candied nuts,” said Crystal Pepperdine, executive director of Flint Handmade. “Great for snacking on while you curl up with a good book.

“Also new this year is Amber from Charlie & Will Shop. She creates fantastic wood signs and sews lovely pillows in the shape of Michigan. Super comfy for lounging and reading.”

Guests may participate in a free make-and-take bookmark craft for all ages. Supplies will be provided. Guests can also enter to win a gift basket full of handmade items and a wonderful craft book.

“The Genesee District Library is excited to partner with Flint Handmade for the 4th Annual Book Lovers’ Craft Fair,” said Kelly Flynn, Community Relations manager for GDL. “Our patrons love everything book-related, and we love our patrons. It’s a perfect match.”

Flint Handmade, founded by Pepperdine in 2007, supports the local handmade economy by organizing and promoting craft markets, offering opportunities for social crafting, and educating the public about the personal and commercial value of handcrafting.

Admission is free. For more information, including a list of vendors with links to their websites, visit http:// flinthandmade.org. P.S.
