Learn music production at MCC’s Music Tech Fest

FLINT — Learn the ins and outs of music production at Music Tech Fest, June 23 from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Mott Community College (MCC).

The annual day-long festival of music technology, music creation, and recording is hosted by the MCC Music Department, and offers participants a snapshot of the Music Technology degree program at the College. Attendees will participate in several hands-on sessions throughout the day that reflect the variety of jobs and skills required in today’s music industry, including MIDI music creation, sequencing, editing, and looping and a live recording session at the Bryson Recording Studio, followed by a post-production tutorial. Parisian Picnic — Summer FUNdraiser

Genesee County seniors receive scholarships

GENESEE COUNTY – Genesee County Educational Foundation (GCEF) recently awarded seven Genesee County high school seniors with scholarships to continue their education and career.

Genesee Early College scholarship recipients, both attending University of Michigan-Flint, include Johnathon Baxter, planning to study Computer Information Systems; and Tazhaniq Tidwell, planning to study Anesthesiology. Scholarship recipients at Mott Middle College include Eleanor Crutcher and Kristine Peters, both receiving the Education Scholarship; Kayla Harrison- Harrold, Scholarship for Outstanding Citizen; D’Shyla Hodge, Principal’s Award Scholarship; and Madison Whitmore, Leadership Scholarship. The Genesee County Educational Foundation awarded $8,000 in scholarships this year for Genesee County high school seniors to assist them with their financial and educational needs at an institution of higher learning. These are competitive, nonrenewable scholarships for tuition, books, fees, and supplies. –— G.G.
