Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition held over at Sloan Museum

FLINT — Due to popular demand, Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition will remain open at Sloan Museum until Sept. 3. Six new artifacts will be installed in the exhibit, including a baker’s hat and two postcards that shed light on their owner’s travels and personal correspondence. Sloan Museum has seen record-breaking attendance since Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition debuted on Jan. 21. Sloan Museum will also offer additional special events in connection with the exhibit. The very popular Titanic High Tea will return July 22, and a dinner featuring dishes re-created from the first class menu will take place July 29. Tickets to Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition are timed. Advance purchase is recommended. Ticket prices are $14 for adults, $12 for seniors age 60 and older, $11 for youth ages 2-11, and $5 for members. UM-Flint to hold auditions for summer vocal academy

FLINT —The University of Michigan- Flint is continuing the 30-year tradition of its Summer Vocal Academy. The summer camp style program focuses on vocal music. Participants learn, create, and perform on stage under the direction of experienced UM-Flint Music professors, alumni, and other guest faculty.

The Academy offers two consecutive camps. Junior Academy is for grades 4 through 7 and runs from July 10 to July 21

Senior Academy is for grades 8 through 12 and runs July 17 to July 28. Each camp concludes with a public concert featuring all students.

Entrance into either the Junior or Senior Academy requires a simple audition. Auditions will be held May 18-20 and June 1-3. Students may sign up for an audition by calling the Department of Music at 810-762-3377 or through the Academy’s webpage at umflint.edu/music/summer-vocal academy-music.

Those who successfully complete the audition process must pay a $175 registration fee to attend the actual Academy sessions in July. Scholarships funds for new and returning students for both Junior and Senior Academy are available on first come, first served basis.

Auditions will be held at University of Michigan-Flint, Department of Music, 164 French Hall, 327 E. Kearsley Street, Flint, May 18 and 19, 6 p.m.; May 20, 11 a.m.; June 1 & 2, 6 p.m.; June 3, 11 a.m.
