GRAND BLANC TWP. — On May 12 at approximately 6:49 p.m., in the 6100 block of S. Saginaw, officers responded to a report of retail fraud. Upon arrival, a loss prevention officer said he became suspicious after noticing a couple with a large flat cart who seemed to be rushing to their vehicle. He observed them place their merchandise, including an above ground pool valued at over $300 in a black van. He checked store video and found the man had scanned other items at checkout, and when appearing to scan the pool, actually scanned a pair of water goggles. Using video officers went to the address and found the 30-year-old Flint male in possession of the pool without a valid receipt. He was arrested and explained how he had pretended to scan the pool and was lodged in the Genesee County jail. — P.S.
