BURTON — Local business owner and Burton Chamber of Commerce President John Dombrowski wants to give people another reason to visit Burton, and has developed a live concert event to do just that. This Saturday, he’ll be hosting the Spring 2017 Indie Rock Summit, featuring “five bands, food and fun for all ages.”

“There is a lot of great talent right here in our backyard,” said Dombrowski. “These bands have established themselves while performing their own original material on stages in metro Detroit, Flint and throughout the region. I wanted to bring an event to Burton that celebrates and encourages creativity and make it available to people of all ages.”

Indie Rock Summit will be held at The Loft, which is located on the top floor of Walli’s Restaurant and The Fox Sports Bar & Grill on Center Road. “The Loft at Walli’s has partnered with us to offer a safe, easily accessible location with something for everybody at a local landmark that can accommodate a crowd,” said Dombrowski.

Bands performing at Indie Rock Summit will include Reign, Division in Time, Paco Higdon, Plethora and Dombrowski’s own band, Stifling Edith, who will also serve as the host of the event.

Said Dombrowski, “I would like to make this a recurring event. We have a lot of talented original artists in our area and it’s exciting to connect them to their local community.”

The event will begin at 6 p.m. on Saturday, with doors opening at 5 p.m. Tickets will cost $6 in advance and $8 at the door. Advance tickets are available online at www.stiflingedith.com/ events. Walli’s Restaurant is located at 1341 Center Road.
