Speeder arrested with gun

GRAND BLANC — On March 7, at approximately 11:58 p.m. in the 2400 block of Maple Rd., an officer observed a black Ford Focus driven by a 21-year-old Grand Blanc man at a high rate of speed and initiated a traffic stop. After instructing the driver to exit the vehicle, a strong odor of marijuana was noted coming from the car. The officer deployed his K-9 partner and initiated a search on the car, during which the suspect admitted to having a handgun in the glove box. He stated he purchased it two weeks prior, but had no registration for it on him, and didn’t have a Concealed Pistol License and it was loaded. The gun was seized as well as some marijuana cigarettes which were found in the vehicle. The male was arrested for Violation of the Controlled Substance Act (VCSA) and Failure to hold a Concealed Weapons Permit. The vehicle was released to his mother, the registered owner. — P.S.

Bathroom rush ends in assault

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On March 6 at 2:28 p.m., officers responded to a report of a large fight in the 6300 block of S. Dort Hwy. where they arrested a juvenile for assault after a 28-year-old Flint female rushed into the bathroom and hit another woman who was behind the door using the baby diaper changing table. Words were exchanged between the two women, and continued into the dining area where their families were located. Pushing, shoving, hitting and racial slurs ensued, resulting in the arrest. — P.S.

Davisburg man charged in Felony Retail Fraud

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On March 6, at 9:20 p.m., officers responded to the 6300 block of S. Saginaw Rd. for a report of Retail Fraud. The suspect, a 28-year-old male from Davisburg, was seen fleeing the store and dropping merchandise, consisting of a $150 speaker, and then getting into a red Mercury and leaving. Officers observed a backpack being thrown from the vehicle as well. The vehicle was stopped by officers in the City of Grand Blanc and the suspect was arrested; the backpack was recovered and found to contain drug paraphernalia. The suspect admitted to stealing the speaker to sell to support his drug habit. — P.S.

Feb. Police, Fire Summary

GRAND BLANC TWP. — In February 2016, the Grand Blanc Township Police Department performed 638 traffic stops and responded to 1012 calls for service. This resulted in 27

Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) Arrests, 104 misdemeanor arrests, and 15 felony arrests. Officers also performed 798 business checks and 958 subdivision checks. As part of our service to the community, officers did 696 vacation checks (checked homes of residents that were away on vacation) and completed 22 Night Closure Letters (notification to residents that their garage door was open throughout the evening or that valuable items were left outside unattended.

The Grand Blanc Fire Department responded to a total of 55 calls; including 6 fires, 9 Rescue and Emergency Medical Service, 12 Hazardous Conditions, 9 Service Calls, and 19 miscellaneous (canceled/malfunctioned alarms and incident not found) calls. — P.S.
