Author collaborates with Crim organizers

FLINT — Author and Flint native Dr. Michelle Segar takes a close look at the science of motivation in her book “No Sweat: How the Simple Science of Motivation can Bring You a Lifetime of Fitness”, recently chosen as the No. 1 diet/exercise book in 2015 by USA Best Book Awards .

On Dec. 11, Segar spent some time with Crim Fitness Foundation staff and guests discussing how the science of motivation can be used to design programs, evaluation processes and events that inspire and encourage others to make lasting changes to their lives. In No Sweat, Dr. Segar walks readers through a four-point program to help identify what motivates them to remain healthy and active.

“Dr. Segar is going to help us look at community health from a new perspective. We want to find out how to help people tap into the motivation that’s within them,” said Gerry Myers, Crim Fitness Foundation CEO. “Programs and events are very important in terms of access to opportunity, but if the motivation is not there to begin with and to continue, then it all becomes a vicious cycle of beginning and failing.”
