Spud hosts Lucky Day Adopt-A-Thon and Toys for Tots drive

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Lucky Day Animal Rescue will hold a Christmas Adopt-A-Thon, Dec. 19, from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. at the new Spud Software building, 9478 S. Saginaw, near Baldwin. The “Christmas Cat Adoption Extravaganza”, according to Director Gretchen Sommer, will feature adoption specials, give-aways, merchandise, and light refreshments. Anyone that donates a toy will be entered into a drawing for a gift basket and each cat adopted gets a cat bed, goodie bag, stocking and custom ornament. Grand Blanc High School to Host Alumni Day

GRAND BLANC — Grand Blanc High School will be hosting its first Alumni Day on Dec. 22. Around 40 alumni from various graduating classes have volunteered to speak to current high school students about their postsecondary experiences. The alumni will begin the day with an appreciation breakfast and then will have the opportunity to speak to two different third hour classes. Speakers will give a brief introduction about themselves and what they are doing now and will then present about such topics as adjusting to college life, being independent, choosing a college and major, applying for financial aid, and what they would change if they could do high school again. — P.S.

The hunt of a lifetime

LANSING — Hunters, there’s still time to purchase a $5 Pure Michigan Hunt application. Winners of this special hunt package will have the opportunity to obtain licenses for elk, bear, antler-less deer and turkey, along with first selection of a hunting site at a managed waterfowl area during the reserved hunt period. Each winner also receives an amazing prize package. Applications are available until Dec. 31.

Genesys Hospice hosts painter Greg Zafiroff

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Mixed media paintings by Greg Zafiroff are on display at Genesys Health Park until Jan. 23. The exhibit, on the 2nd Floor between the elevators, is sponsored by the Grand Blanc Arts Council. To purchase a piece of artwork, call the Hospice Division of Reverence at 810-695-9878 who will receive 25 percent of the proceeds. — P.S.
