OWI with open intoxicants cited

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 17, at 2:16 a.m., in the area of Grand Blanc Road and S. Dort Hwy., officers stopped a 34-year-old Grand Blanc male who was driving a car at 70 miles per hour in a 55 zone on snowy roads. Upon interviewing the driver and receiving permission for a pat down search, he was found to be carrying an open flask of alcohol. In addition to smelling of alcohol, he admitted to drinking. He failed a field sobriety test and refused a Preliminary Breath Test. He was arrested and taken back to the station where he was read his data master rights and administered a blood alcohol test in which he scored .10 and was lodged at the Genesee County jail. — P.S.

Home Invasion downgraded

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 13, at approximately 11:13 p.m., in the 1000 block of Thornridge Dr., officers were called regarding a complaint of home invasion in progress. The suspect was a 20-year-old Flint male who had broken into the apartment of his 19-year-old ex-girlfriend who was home with another male following their recent breakup. He was in the process of trying to break into the bathroom where the couple was hiding when officers entered and ordered him into another room. Upon investigation it was discovered he was a lease holder on the apartment and was not charged with home invasion. Officers were able to diffuse the situation without injuries. They male was transported to the Genesee County jail. — P.S.

OWI calls police on himself

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 14, at 105 a.m., officers reported to a dispatch call from a 32-year-old Caro man who stated he had recently argued with his brother causing him to lose control of his 2000 Silver Dodge Caravan which had gone into a snow bank in the area of Woodsdale and Springdale Roads. Upon speaking with the man, officers noted he was unsteady on his feet and had bloodshot, watery eyes. He admitted to drinking a pint of vodka, failed a field sobriety test and blew a .17 on the Preliminary Breath Test. He refused to take a blood alcohol reading on the DataMaster test which results in an automatic year suspension of a driver’s license. He was lodged in the Genesee County jail for OWI. — P.S.
