Moped accident cites two

Test drive ends in citation

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Aug. 9 at 1:50 a.m., an officer on road patrol with open windows in the area of the 6100 block of Dort Highway heard a motorcycle revving its engine. The officer then observed the bike turning eastbound on Hill Road and observed it traveling over the speed limit, crossing the double yellow line to pass, and weaving throughout his lane. He pulled the 23-yearold Grand Blanc man over and found him to have an invalid North Dakota license with no motorcycle endorsement. He was driving without a helmet. When asked to get off the motorcycle, he was stumbling, displayed a strong odor of alcohol and was slurring his speech. He claimed to have had two beers at a local bar and was test driving the cycle he had just bought from a friend. He failed field sobriety tests and his preliminary breath test, and subsequent breath test resulted in a blood alcohol level of .13. He was ticketed for careless driving, OWI, and being unlicensed to ride a motorcycle. He was lodged at the county jail. — P.S.
