Church to hold pastie sale

GOODRICH — The Goodrich United Methodist Church, 8071 S. State Rd., will hold a beef pastie sale Sept. 20-21. Order by Sept. 19 by calling the church at 810-636-2444 or 810-444-1194. Pick up times are Friday from 1-4 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m.-noon.

The next pastie sale is Nov. 8-9. — G.G.

Rotary to host speakers

GRAND BLANC — Several speakers are scheduled to talk to the Grand Blanc Rotary at its weekly Tuesday meetings in the month ahead. The meetings are held at Sophia’s Place, 11395 S. Saginaw St. at 7:30 a.m.

• Susan Soderstrom, mayor of Grand Blanc, will speak Sept. 10.

• Dave Stamm, Grand Blanc Township police chief, will speak Sept. 17. — G.G.

Childhood Cancer Run-Walk

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Sept. 15 the Jewel of Grand Blanc will host a 5k Run, 5K walk, 1 mile run and a 1/2 mile walk to raise awareneness of childhood cancerss of Childhood Cancer and funds for Camp Quality of Michigan http://www.campqualityusa.org/mi.

Camp Quality's summer camps and yearround activities are free of charge to the family and are completely supported by donations and fundraisers.

Robotics team fundraiser

Friends to hold book sale

GOODRICH — The Friends of the Library will hold their Annual Fall Book and Bake Sale, Sept. 21 in the Community Room of the Goodrich Library at 10237 Hegel Rd., Goodrich. Hours are from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Gently used books and other media will be accepted through Sept. 19 during regular library hours Monday-Wednesday — noon - 8 p.m., Thursday — 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., Friday and Sunday — Closed, and Saturday — 9 a.m.-5 p.m. — P.S.

Veterans Benefits seminar

GRAND BLANC — Valley Area Agency on Aging will present a free forum on benefits for veterans. The forum will take place from 10:30 a.m.-noon on Sept. 18 at Grand Blanc Senior Center, 12632 Pagels Drive in Grand Blanc. Topics that will be discussed are a review of 2013 Medicare Parts A, B, C and D and the key features of Medicare supplements; an update and review of "Health Reform Law" and how it impacts Medicare beneficiary in 2014; and an overview of VA benefits.
