Photo by Rob Picken GRAND BLANC — Kara Puidokas, a senior on the Grand Blanc varsity volleyball team is one of eight recipients of the Michigan Interscholastic Volleyball Coaches Association (MIVCA) Scholarship for 2012.

The scholarship is annually awarded to high school volleyball players, who MIVCA says demonstrates leadership, character, and outstanding academic performance throughout their high school careers.

Puidokas, Kimberly Cusmano of Grosse Pointe North High School, Madeline Blocki of Notre Dame Prep, Katherine Krawaczyk of Allen Park Cabrini, Alyssa Kociba of Bad Axe, Kylei Ratkowski of Bronson, Gina Graff of Forest Park and Danielle Lutz of Bay City All Saints, all earned scholarships.

“Kara is such a great person. It was just wonderful that she was athletic, too!,” said Grand Blanc volleyball coach Shannon Cumming. “She was a great role model in our program and a student athlete that always gave 200 percent for her team. She was so unselfish and always put her team first. Kara always had a smile on her face and always had something to say to brighten anyone's day. I feel so lucky to have had her in our program. We will miss her hard work ethic and love for the game!”
