Underage drinkers run over passenger

GRAND BLANC TWP. — A 20-year-old Grand Blanc woman was left unconscious in a parking lot in the 8200 block of Holly Rd. on Feb. 16 at 1:17 a.m.

According to witness statements, she was a passenger in a car also containing two males, one who went into the attached restaurant and a 20-year-old Grand Blanc man who went into the convenience store. The male in the store attempted to leave after shoplifting a $1.79 bag of pretzels, and when confronted by the store clerk about paying, said he was going to the car and ask the others in the car for money.

After reviewing video footage, police report it appears the driver of the car, another 20-year-old Grand Blanc woman, panicked at the shoplifting accusation and hurriedly backed out the parking spot, causing the car to spin, which threw the other female out of the car. The 20-year-old shoplifting suspect jumped out of the car to help her, but the car left.

Medics who happened to be on hand stated she was initially unconscious and bleeding from the head, but regained consciousness quickly. Police tracked the vehicle to a nearby house using the license information and found five underage people drinking and also tested the female driver who was found to have been under the influence of alcohol.

She authorized a search of the vehicle which also turned up 12.24 grams of marijuana as well as drug paraphernalia. She said she left the scene because she thought the girl who fell out was dead. Multiple charges were issued, including underage drinking, drug possession and paraphernalia, and leaving the scene of an accident. — P.B.

TV fan makes off with goods

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 15 at approximately 5:03 p.m., in the 6700 block of S. Saginaw, loss prevention officials reported observing a 27- year old Flint woman enter the store with a cart, go directly to the electronics department and put a TV in it and then go to the video games section and conceal a Wii game system in a bag. The female was known to officials from previous TV thefts and had been banned from the store. She unfortunately was able to load the TV in her grandmother’s Monte Carlo before being apprehended and is pending a warrant on charges for the theft. — P.B.

Accessories make … arrest?

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 16 at approximately 2:15 p.m., in the 6300 block of S. Saginaw, an 18-year-old Grand Blanc man was observed selecting a pair of stainless steel earrings before picking out a pair of jeans and heading to the fitting rooms.

The man came out of the fitting rooms and proceeded to the register with the jean, but not the earrings and was detained by loss prevention officers. The package for the earrings was found on the shelf in the dressing room, and the earrings were in the suspect’s work apron. On interview, he stated he didn’t intend to steal them, he just “made a bad decision”. He was cited for Retail Fraud and his vehicle was impounded. — P.B.

Man arrested for drugs

GRAND BLANC TWP. — On Feb. 15 at approximately 1:21 a.m., offices conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for defective equipment (no tail lights). Officers spoke with the driver and when attempting to verify the identity of two passengers, were given the name of man with six warrants.

After interviewing the suspect, police found he had used his brother’s name, but they also searched the car and came up with a baggie of marijuana and multiple pills. The suspect also had $2,600 in cash on him. — P.B.
