Gun found during stop

GRAND BLANC TWP. — Two 19-year-old Flushing men were in custody after police found a loaded handgun in a car they were traveling in.

Officers stopped the 2002 Lincoln at 6:40 p.m. March 31 for cruising 73 mph in the 6000 block of Dort Highway.

When the officer approached the Lincoln he smelled suspected marijuana.

The officer ran the names of the men and discovered one of the men had a warrant for drugs. The officer then checked the car and found the .38-caliber handgun under the passenger seat.

Both men denied the gun was theirs and the officer arrested them. He confiscated the gun and $750 in cash.

The officer cited the driver for speeding.
