Contract approved
GRAND BLANC — The board approved a contract with Advanced Technologies to provide technology lab software at both new middle schools. Total cost is $96,546.
The contract will provide computers, software and other technologies to allow students to explore different careers, education needed to attain those careers and other information.
“This is not only the low bid, but it is the bid that best addresses our needs,” said Dana Taylor, district business manager.
In other business:
• The board approved a resolution to allow the district to explore joining another beverage consortium, which is a cooperative agreement between districts for soft drink purchasing. The current agreement expires in 2007 and has been cost- effective for districts involved, which are interested in continuing it.
• The following change orders were approved: $53,249.94 for miscellaneous finishing work at the high school; $12,194.96 for kitchen renovations at the ninth grade transition building and $10,320.75 for finishing work at the new high school gym.
• The board appointed Lisa Kunkleman, Larry Polzin, Debbie Hancock and Lillian Mason as voting delegates at the Michigan Association of School Boards Delegates Assembly in November. Michael Blondell was appointed as an alternate.
• The board supported Debbie Squires from the Huron Valley Board of Education for a three-year term on the MASB Board of Directors. She is running against Ralph Nodwell from the Van Buren Board of Education in Wayne County.
• The next board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 in the Perry Center. — P.H.
